  • Most people who recover from Covid-19 remain shielded from the virus for at least six months, researchers reported on Wednesday in a large study from Denmark. Another study published in the Lancet medical journal shows Coronavirus reinfections are rare, except in people 65 and older.

  • Surveillance indicators suggest that COVID-19 activity continued to decrease across most indicators in week 10 of 2021. Hospital admission rates for COVID-19 have fallen across all regions, and are at their lowest point of the pandemic in Wales.
  • Scotland’s vaccination program has delivered first doses of the vaccine to more than two million people – 44% of the adult population. People aged 50-54 are now being invited for a jab in England. This is the final group on the priority list, which covers 99% of those at high risk of dying from Covid-19.

  • More states have expanded eligibility for vaccinations: the pace of daily shots administered in the United States has steadily increased to a pace that is now 12 percent higher than it was just a week ago.
  • Biden administration eyes mid-May to begin relaxing Covid travel restrictions. The relaxation of restrictions would involve travel across the Mexican and Canadian borders and on inbound travel from the U.K., Europe, and Brazil.
  • The United States plans to send 2.5 million doses of AstraZeneca the vaccine to Mexico and 1.5 million to Canada.


  • EU states are to resume AstraZeneca vaccine roll-out as Europe's medicines regulator concluded it was "safe and effective".
